Have you visited Abrams Falls in Cades Cove, yet? Abrams Falls may only be 20 feet high, but the volume of water rushing over the falls and thunderous sound will make up for the lack of height! It's absolutely beautiful, and a favorite hike for many people at all times of the year. Located on the Abrams Falls Trail in Cades Cove, this waterfall is a round-trip distance of 5 miles and the hike is generally considered moderate in difficulty. (There's roots to climb over, some steep areas, but nothing to strenuous for most people - some may have difficulty with the length of the hike and the terrain, especially if conditions are wet). Wear sturdy shoes for sure - it made a difference for me! I've hiked there in tennis shoes, vibram five finger shoes and hiking boots... boots worked best for me.
It takes about 3-4 hours to hike to the waterfall and back. Also, a helpful note - if you begin your hike late in the afternoon, you may have to return in the dark! Which, isn't fun when you forget your flashlight!
Swimming at the base of the falls is dangerous due to strong currents... but further out from the falls is a great spot to swim, relax and enjoy yourself!
As always, pay attention to children near the water. Rocks can be VERY slippery. When I was there I saw lots of people climbing on the rocks dangerously - including young kids! So, please be cautious!

I'm Elizabeth Azpurua and I've been blessed to work with many different industries since I started working in the summertime during high school. I have over 10 years of social media marketing experience.
First, I worked in the wedding industry doing marketing and as an assistant wedding coordinator.
Then, I started modeling and did bridal runway shows, themed photo shoots, and more. While modeling I started working in the vacation rental industry doing social media marketing and I've worked alongside industry professionals in construction and real estate.
Having studied Business at Brigham Young University Idaho and participating in networking seminars, I feel like I'm well versed in the necessary knowledge to help businesses succeed in the ever changing world of internet marketing.
With social media, everything changes quickly and you need to be constantly thinking of new ways to navigate with those changes.
Because I'm based out of the Smoky Mountains I work with many businesses locally and I share my love for this area of the Smokies and overall just a strong love of nature and wildlife.
I thoroughly enjoy hiking and identifying trees. I may be on a mobile device or computer most of the day, but I assure you I make time to step outside of my home here in the mountains and take in the scenery. There's nothing quite like this area!
I'm basically a mountain girl navigating in the business world through one social media app at a time.

Snapchat is used by a younger audience and it isn't as public as Facebook so they can easily share content with their friends. Engage younger followers by posting exclusive stories, behind the scenes photos and humorous daily antics at your business.
Maybe it comes as no surprise but Pinterest is still more popular among women than it is with men. Pinterest is a search engine for saving ideas, finding content, recipes and products while keeping them organized on boards. Your business would benefit from utilizing Pinterest to target an audience looking for specific products, information, how-to's and recipes. If you need suggestions or help, just let me know! - Elizabeth Azpurua
Cades Cove is one of my favorite places to visit in the Smoky Mountains. I love being able to take a picnic lunch, see the old cabins, go for hikes, take photos and enjoy the wildlife. I've been going to Cades Cove since I was 3 years old and each time I see something new, or I see it in a way I hadn't before. There's something special about this portion of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
If it is possible to post daily, you should. There are many ways of even scheduling posts ahead, but the reality is, you need to be connecting with your audience on a daily basis. Posting at least once a day has a huge impact on your business, and platforms like Twitter benefit from multiple posts a day. If you're struggling to find the time, create a daily schedule that involves time devoted to the social sites you're on. For small businesses who have new things happening on a daily basis, uses the stories feature on social sites like Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat allow you to connect with your followers in a unique way each day. ~Elizabeth Azpurua
Struggling with ideas about how to engage followers? A helpful hint is to ask questions. If you ask a question it invites them to action. You can also use polls to get a response and post helpful content they can use. Each business is different but you want to add value to their life. In a constant stream of information, you not only need to grab their attention but it needs to be with something that either inspires them, enlightens them or validates them. Don't be generic either. No one likes that.

I love the Smoky Mountains. I know there are many areas in this beautiful world with stunning mountain vistas and forests that transport you back in time, but there is something different about the Smoky Mountains.
They may not be the highest peaks, or the largest mountain range, but they're magic.
I grew up in the mountains, playing in the woods, picking berries, watching sunsets and enjoying the changing seasons.
I love hiking and seeing the views, appreciating the way the mountains transform in each season and marveling at how spectacular they are no matter what time of year it is.
I think that's why I use the Smokies as a huge part of marketing here locally because anyone who comes to this area is coming to see them.
It's hard not to love these mountains.
I think local businesses should capitalize on their location and share photos of the Smokey Mountains as often as possible.
Even those in Seymour or Sevierville, because it's not just Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge that have great mountain views.
Depending on where you are in the area, you can see stunning views even out in Kodak.
So, if you love the Smoky Mountains I think it's important to share your love for them by enjoying them, capturing them in photos and spreading the love around!
Of course, that's just my opinion.
I often get asked does every business really need social media?
The answer is yes!
With more and more people going to social media first to look up information, the way you'll stay ahead of your competition is by being visible on social sites.
If your business isn't on Google with a Google listing, it needs to be.
Then, you can have a Google+ account to post content and updates.
Facebook is one of the best tools for businesses because really, where else can you get advertising for around a $1 a day that can reach an audience of your choosing?
If your business is photo heavy, Instagram is essential to get your content out to a larger audience and it's easy enough to send posts right through to Twitter or Tumblr, too. So, why not?
Do you have video content? Videos will be CRITICAL for marketing and YouTube is a huge platform to get your business on.
LIVE videos can be used on Facebook and Instagram to gain far greater engagement and don't forget about Snapchat where you reach a younger audience with spontaneous content that works great for behind-the-scenes.
Pinterest is essential if you have products.
Think of Pinterest like a search engine.
People are looking up content on there all the time and if your content isn't on there it won't be found.
Last, I firmly believe everyone should have a LinkedIn account that stays updated with current information and every business should have a company page on there.
If you want success in this fast paced world of instant gratification then you need to be utilizing social media.
Don't have the time?
That's why I'm here!

The wonderful thing about living in the Smoky Mountains since 1991 is that I've come to fully appreciate the area and the small town charm that exists beneath the tourism.
With places like Dollywood, The Island in Pigeon Forge, Ober Gatlinburg, Dolly Parton's Stampede and more, the Smokies offer a lot of options for families while on vacation.
This brings plenty of business for our tourist based economy and allows a great opportunity for local small businesses to grow and thrive.
That being said, small businesses often have much smaller budgets than the major attractions in our area and that's why social media marketing can be such a great tool to ensure your Pigeon Forge business will be successful or Gatlinburg craft store won't get lost in the mix.
Whether you have a local restaurant in Sevierville or boutique in Townsend, the Smoky Mountains are what each small business has in common and that is why vacationers come back year after year.
Social media marketing in the Smokies involves showcasing the area, providing information on your business and its location while ensuring guests in our area know they can get quality service from you.
You want them to feel so comfortable with your business that they keep coming back each time they visit the area.
I help my clients stand out from their competition by focusing on what their business story is and what makes them unique. I want everyone to find their success story here in the Smokies.
