Let me say first, I love Pinterest. I've been so excited about adding Pinterest for more clients.
Pinterest is a search engine for saving ideas, finding content, recipes and products while keeping them organized on boards.
Your business would benefit from utilizing Pinterest to target an audience looking for specific products, information, how-to's and recipes.
It's also really fun.
I said it.
I just really like Pinterest and I want your company to have one so I can pin things for you, too.
I even have a board linked to my Instagram account that saves my pins. This board allows me to keep fresh content on my Pinterest.
Curious about having me pin for your company? Contact me!
A newly discovered bug in Apple's FaceTime software lets Apple users listen in on the people they are calling and even see through their front-facing camera without them picking-up the call!!
The bug flagged by 9to5Mac on Monday was quickly recreated by people across social media. Apple said in a statement Monday night that it has identified a fix for the problem and will release it in a software update later this week. In the meantime Apple's website indicates Group FaceTime is unavailable and the company confirmed it has started disabling the Group FaceTime feature for all users.
The bug works on iPhones and iPads running iOS 12.1 and Apple PCs running macOS Mojave which have the recently added Group FaceTime feature.
When the bug is activated the person who initiated the call is able to hear the live audio on the other person's phone even though the recipient has not accepted the call.
And their screen gives no indication that their conversation is being transmitted.
In some cases the bug can also show live video of the other person if they press a volume button to dismiss the call.
To avoid falling victim to the bug disable FaceTime on all your devices until Apple's software updates have been released. On an iPhone or iPad go to Settings -> FaceTime and toggle off the green button at the top of the screen. To turn it off on a Mac open the FaceTime app and go to FaceTime on top of the screen then select "Turn FaceTime Off."
This is not a "new year, new me" type of post. It's an announcement that I made it through my first year of business. That's a pretty big deal.
You see, I have always worked for other people.
In the industries I have been involved in, I was in charge of social media, but I wasn't in charge of EVERYTHING.
If you want to read more about me, here's a blog post about me. Otherwise, keep reading.
There's been some changes for me here at Smoky Magic Media.
One of the biggest ones is that I have parted ways with Mountain Fun Life Channel and I'm no longer doing my talk show. It was a lot of fun, but both of our companies are going in different directions.
I was really glad for the opportunity to be part of that and get the experience as a talk show host.
It was a lot of fun!
Another change is in the services I provide. People have asked about website design, and I'm happy to say I am now working closely with Riser Creative. They can handle your websites and I can handle your social media. For info, click HERE.
I have added 3 new clients this month. I am very excited for what 2019 holds in store for my business. Check out my client list to see who you can network with! I also provide links to other businesses locally that I network with.
Let's all take a moment to appreciate that I made it through my first year of business. Now, to infinity and beyond, or something like that.
You should be aware by now that many companies are utilizing social media to connect with new customers and fans. In fact, 57% of consumers say social media influences their shopping. Don't miss out on all the possibilities. Make sure you're posting your products on social media and engaging with customers online. Not sure what to post? Here are a few ideas.
Here is a social media idea. Introduce employees on social media to help connect with customers and clients!
I'm not bragging.... I just wanted to show off some of my clients.
I have been posting social media tips and ideas on my INSTAGRAM if you want to connect and get ideas!
Posting questions, or even fill-in-the-blank type of questions can encourage engagement!
Featuring a customer with a story helps build brand trust and provides another type of post to get engagement and shares.
I won't ever forget this day. It changed our area. It's been 2 years and I still think about it all the time.
OK, I get it. You post and post and no one comments or shares. Try switching up your content. Post something that invites them to share it or brings value to them so they want to pass the info on. Post useful information. Post funny content.
A good question to ask is "Would I share this post?"
If you wouldn't share it then why post it?
While we are on that subject, business owners.... why don't you share your own content? Seriously, if your friends don't want to support your business by seeing your content are they really your friends?
I'll leave you with that thought provoking idea.

The wonderful thing about living in the Smoky Mountains is that I've come to fully appreciate the area and the changing seasons. I enjoy marketing locally.
I help small businesses who often have smaller budgets than the major attractions in our area and that's why social media marketing can be such a great tool to ensure your business will be successful.
Social media marketing in the Smokies involves showcasing the area, providing information on your business and its location while ensuring guests in our area know they can get quality service from you.
I help my clients stand out from their competition by focusing on what their business story is and what makes them unique. I want everyone to find their success story here in the Smokies.
How do you build brand trust? Reply to people, respond to messages, emails and inquiries. It's that simple.
Struggling with ideas about how to engage followers? A helpful hint is to ask questions. If you ask a question it invites them to action. Ask them what they like. Ask them what content they want to see. Each business is different but you want to add value to their life. Why would they follow you if it doesn't bring them some type of gratification? In a constant stream of information, you not only need to grab their attention but it needs to be with something that either inspires them, enlightens them or validates them.
